Google Wave 1.0 = RSS, the Sequel

So definitely get excited about Wave. It is way cool. It is real time - where the world is going. But, for now, it does create more problems than it solves.

Did I tell you that I am still waiting for my invite? This might be food for a sequel of another kind ...

Besides Steve Rubel has some valid points, but I disagree about the RSS analogy. RSS isn't DOA, rather it's "embeddedness" and prevalence as a protocol to offer content is a sign of sucess I think.

Well, I hated Steve's piece. I actually went a little bit berserk on him via twitter.

It actually starts with the headline. "DOA ... for now". That's a cowards way out. He is writing something, but he puts a way out for his statement. Right in the title. That made me angry.

And his RSS wasn't successful is total bullshit. RSS is everywhere. Every modern website comes with RSS. And with good reason, because RSS is practically a sites API and the whole web is based on the idea of shareable information. Why the heck does he think that RSS failed?

Ah, well, you see ... I'm not a big fan of his article. Or him in total actually.

Haha, you're putting it nicely - so much for trying to be politically correct while hunting for an invite - moreover, you're reminding me why I unsubscribed from his feed a long time ago. Better than going berserk, huh?

This "RSS is a dead thing" is indeed total crap - I remember a discussion sometime this year on the topic of Enterprise RSS (triggered by the retreat of Newsgator I think) and overall reaction was like "hey, it's everywhere we look, how can there be more success?. Well, this RSS rant seems to be a bit Zombie-esque, it returns once in a while if only to score some easy points with the crowd ...

I've never actually read his blog constantly. Sometimes, when he landed on techmeme or when somebody linked to him.

It's just to much PR with Steve. He is obviously a very good sales person, but from my point of view he just doesn't have that much substance.
